“We have no need of justifying the idea that the material universe was created out of absolutely nothing. But “nothing,” as generally understood, means merely no substance appreciable by our senses. It does not exclude spiritual substance as pre-existing with God Himself. Paul explains this in Hebrews 11: 3. He says we understand by faith that the worlds were not framed “of things which do appear.” God may have created, and doubtlessly did create, what we call matter out of spiritual substance coexisting with Himself from eternity.” (Geo.
