The Last Crisis – Part 2

The book Christ Object Lessons was written in the year 1900, by Ellen White, a few years before Testimonies Volume 9, the book that we dealt with in our last Editorial “The Last Crisis” published on January 3, 2017. On page 11 of Testimonies Volume 9, we quoted the following.

In the great cities there are multitudes living in poverty and wretchedness, well-nigh destitute of food, shelter, and clothing; while in the same cities are those who have more than heart could wish, who live luxuriously, spending their money on richly furnished houses, on personal adornment, or worse still, upon the gratification of sensual appetites, upon liquor, tobacco, and other things that destroy the powers of the brain, unbalance the mind, and debase the soul. The cries of starving humanity are coming up before God, while by every species of oppression and extortion men are piling up colossal fortunes.” Testimonies, Volume 9, page 11, paragraph 4.

The book Christ Object Lessons on page 170 and paragraph 2, parallels the description of the time of the end. Note that the primary phrase in the following paragraph is “just before Christ’s second coming.”

The Scriptures describe the condition of the world just before Christ's second coming. James the apostle pictures the greed and oppression that will prevail. He says, "Go to now, ye rich men, . . . ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which are of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton. Ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you." James 5:1-6. This is a picture of what exists today. By every species of oppression and extortion, men are piling up colossal fortunes, while the cries of starving humanity are coming up before God. E.G. White, Christ Object Lessons, page 170 and paragraph 2

Thom Hartmann and Sam Sacks , published an article on 27 November 2012 on the OpEdNews.com website entitled: “Goldman Sachs Global Coup D’etat.” Hartman and Sacks begins their article with the following.

“When the people of Greece saw their democratically elected Prime Minister George Papandreou forced out of office in November of 2011 and replaced by an unelected Conservative technocrat, Lucas Papademos, most were unaware of the bigger picture of what was happening all around them. Similarly, most of us in the United States were equally as ignorant when, in 2008, despite the switchboards at the US Capitol collapsing under the volume of phone calls from constituents urging a “no” vote, our elected representatives voted “yes” at the behest of Bush's Treasury Secretary Henry Paulsen and jammed through the biggest bailout of Wall Street in our nation’s history.” Thom Hartmann and Sam Sacks, “Goldman Sachs Global Coup D’etat.” OpEdNews.com, 27 November 2012

Now of course, Hartmann and Sacks are referring to the 2008 market crash that occurred while Henry Paulsen was US Treasury Secretary. Perhaps you might not remember Paulsen’s previous business connections. The continuing article makes the connection.

“But now, as the Bank of England, a key player in the ongoing Eurozone crisis, announces that former investment banker Mark Carney will be its new chief, we can’t afford to ignore what’s happening around the world. Steadily – and stealthily – Goldman Sachs is carrying out a global coup d’etat. There’s one tie that binds Lucas Papademos in Greece, Henry Paulsen in the United States, and Mark Carney in the U.K., and that’s Goldman Sachs. All were former bankers and executives at the Wall Street giant, all assumed prominent positions of power, and all played a hand after the global financial meltdown of 2007-08, thus making sure Goldman Sachs weathered the storm and made significant profits in the process.” Thom Hartmann and Sam Sacks , “Goldman Sachs Global Coup D’etat.” OpEdNews.com, 27 November 2012

Why I found this expressed opinion in the 2012 article intriguing, is that fact that the President Elect has chosen as his Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin — a Goldman Sachs alum and hedge fund manager. But Mnuchin is not the only member of the elite squad.

“Mnuchin is just one appointment, though, right? Well, Trump also just announced that his Secretary of Commerce will be Wilbur Ross, a billionaire private equity investor. And his Secretary of Education will be Betsy DeVos, a billionaire opponent of public schools. And his Transportation Secretary will be Elaine Chao, who served in the administrations of both George Bushes and is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Before entering politics she was a banker, and according to Politico, "She made at least $1,074,826 from serving on boards of directors in 2015, according to public records." Trump is also reportedly considering Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn to be his budget director. "It's the most conservative [Cabinet] since Reagan," says one supply-sider, and that may be an understatement.”
Paul Waldman, 'Populist' Trump fills Cabinet with billionaires and Wall Street tycoons, Chicago Tribune, December 1, 2016

It is clear that the environment, regardless of the promises that have been made to change things, will for the most part remain the same. It is very clear that the prophetic utterances found in the Word of God will be fulfilled exactly as predicted.

James 5:1 - Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you].

James 5:2 - Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

James 5:3 - Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

James 5:4 - Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

James 5:5 - Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

James 5:6 - Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; [and] he doth not resist you.

James 5:7 - Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
