Colin and Russell Standish published a book in 1998. The name of the book was “Antichrist is here”. Amazon’s biography of these men says the following:
“COLIN AND RUSSELL STANDISH were born in Newcastle, Australia, in 1933. They both obtained their teaching diplomas from Avondale College in 1951. They were appointed to one-teacher Seventh-day Adventist primary (elementary) schools in rural areas of New South Wales, each teaching for three years. Both in 1958 completed a major in history and undertook an honor’s degree in psychology at Sydney University in the field of learning theory. Colin continued in this area, obtaining his Master of Arts degree with honors in 1961, and his Doctor of Philosophy in 1964. In 1967 he completed a Masters Degree in Education. Russell graduated as a physician in 1964. Six years later he was admitted to the Royal College of Physicians (UK) by examination. He was elevated to the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in Edinburgh (1983) and Glasgow (1984).” Amazon Website
Under normal circumstances it would not be necessary to expand on the biography as we will do here. However, because of the prophetic importance of the material we are dealing with it is important to do so.
“In 1965, Colin was appointed Chairman of the Education Department at Avondale College. Subsequently he held the posts of Academic Dean at West Indies College (1970), President of West Indies College (1970-73), Chairman of the Department of Psychology, Columbia Union College (1974), President of Columbia Union College (1974-78), and Dean of Weimar College (1978-83). He was invited to become the foundational president of Hartland Institute, which consists of a degree-issuing college, a wellness center, publishing house and a world mission division.” Amazon Website
In chapter 16 of the book, these gentlemen deal with the matter of “The Mystery of the Seven Heads.” The Standish brothers begin the chapter by quoting Revelation 17, verses 9-11
“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.” (Revelation 17:9–11)
These gentlemen then continue to reveal the identity of the first five heads this way.
1. The lion with two eagle’s wings, in Daniel 7:4 represented Babylon.
2. The bear that was raised on one side, in Daniel 7:5 represented Medo-Persia.
3. The four-headed leopard, in Daniel 7:6 represented Greece.
4. The ten-horned monster, in Daniel 7:7, represented pagan Rome.
5. The seven-headed, ten-horned monster, in Revelation 13:1, 2, represented papal Rome.
What is most interesting is that the sixth head, the one that “is” is identified here this way.
“At the time of the dramatic fall of papal Rome, one of the most bloodstained revolutions in history, the French Revolution was in progress. For the first time, the world was directed away from religion to atheism as the perpetrators of the French Revolution abolished religion and set up a profligate woman of low morals as the goddess of reason. The influence of the movement of atheism was to have far-reaching effects upon the nations of Europe and beyond. Atheistic communism, which was to dominate Eastern Europe for over seventy years of the twentieth century, perceptively traced its roots to the French Revolution.” Colin and Russell Standish, “Antichrist is here”
So what we not have is the following sequence:
6. Atheistic Communism.
This leave two more heads to be accounted for. By 1989, with the fall of the Soviet Union, atheistic Communism began to fade.
“We have seen the effective demise of atheistic communism in Europe within the last quarter of the year 1989. Just as Medo-Persia followed Babylon without interval, Greece similarly followed Medo-Persia, and pagan Rome succeeded Greece in rapid succession. Just as papal Rome emerged from its pagan counterpart and atheism arose at the point of papal demise, we can also expect the rise of persecuting apostate Protestantism in the very near future because Satan leaves no vacuum in his unwearied efforts to defeat the gospel of Jesus. We have already seen Protestantism in the United States clamoring to restore the prestige and power of the Roman Catholic Church. Baptists, Lutherans, and others (discarding their Protestant heritage) are courting the favor of the Papacy. The archbishop of Canterbury has joined the host of deluded religious leaders in blindly fulfilling divine prophecy. The Papacy will soon be restored, with Protestant support, to its former position; then the following prophecy truly will be fulfilled.” Colin and Russell Standish, “Antichrist is here”
The final list would therefore read:
6. Atheistic Communism.
7. Apostate Protestantism
8. The Return of the Papacy.
We are incredibly close to the final stage of the prophetic pathway. The fall of Atheistic Communism, and the merging of Apostate Protestantism and the Papacy is clearly before us. Soon our Lord will come.
