Per Fidem Intrepidus

On the “Asleep No More” website, there is a brief Bio of a preacher named Mike Gendron. Here is what it says about him:

“For 34 years Evangelist Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic and a strong defender of the "one true church." In 1981, at an evangelistic seminar, Mike heard for the first time that salvation is not by works or sacraments but by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. He also discovered the Bible must become his authority in all matters of faith. After graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1991, Mike began this ministry to reach the many Catholics who currently are where he was for most of his life - believing he was heaven-bound but, in reality, destined for a Christ-less eternity. Mike is recognized internationally as being gifted at lovingly explaining the false teaching of the Church of Rome and why their doctrines are wrong according to the Word of God.”
“Asleep No More” - Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless through Faith"

Evangelist Gendron is just one more searcher for truth that has received from God the identification of error. His quest for truth I am sure, as is the case with many others still continues, but it is indeed reassuring that God continues to demonstrate his magnificent power by reaching into the papal system and revealing the identity of apostasy. On the “Reaching Catholics for Christ” website, Mike Gendron published an article entitled “Should All Christians Unite with Catholics.” His opening paragraph is quite graphic.

“Since the dawn of the new millennium we are witnessing the greatest push toward ecumenical unity the world has ever seen. The Roman Catholic Church is fervently building bridges to all Christian denominations. Through the dedicated efforts of Pope John Paul II, the Vatican is urging all professing Christians to return home to Rome. Dialogues and accords have been initiated and created to seek unity through common beliefs. An example of this is the 1999 Lutheran-Roman Catholic "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification." In the declaration, Rome uses equivocal and ambiguous words to affirm agreement on the doctrine of "justification by faith alone." but, at the same time, continues the anathemas on all who believe this doctrine. We must not be misled. Rome has not changed its position on things that really matter! Instead they continue to take advantage of professing Christians who lack discernment or who are unwilling to contend for "the faith." Mike Gendron, Should All Christians Unite with Catholics.”

Remember now, after 34 years spent as a devout catholic, Mike Gendron sees the subtle hand of a continuing counter-reformation. He removes himself from any connection with this apostasy and begins to declare the truth to the world. He continues:

“The key to the success of this unity effort has been a commitment to "love one another and tolerate one another’s beliefs." The proposal for all Christians to ignore their doctrinal differences for the sake of unity completely overlooks the fact that Roman Catholic, Orthodox and many Protestant churches preach a false gospel that denies the sufficiency of Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption. This ecumenical movement has provided fertile ground to rebuild the religious tower of Babel. Multitudes are being influenced by perverted gospels, doctrines of demons and false teachers. Many more are being persuaded by highly visible evangelicals to join the crusade. It is no surprise the Roman Catholic Church has been the driving force behind this ecumenical movement. Since the close of Vatican Council II in 1965 Rome has been courting those she once called "heretics" by renaming them "separated brethren." No longer able to force people to submit to its popes under the threat of death and persecution, the Vatican has changed its strategy to win the world. Wearing a new face of love and concern for these "separated brethren," she is now offering them the "fullness of salvation" upon their return to the "one true church." Mike Gendron, Should All Christians Unite with Catholics.”

This method of reabsorbing Protestants into “the church” has been the working principle of the papacy. It has successfully stifled much opposition. But there are those who speak boldly, as in Per Fidem Intrepidus which means "Fearless through Faith." Perhaps we should take a leaf out of their book?
