Beginning of the End

Michael James Snyder’s internet bio says that he is an American business executive, who is best known as the first franchisee of the Red Robin restaurant chain. He was later named President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. He is well known as Publisher of The Economic Collapse Blog. In that blog he describes in detail the events of the future economic upheaval. But Michael Snyder goes a step further and writes a novel entitled: “The Beginning of the End,” published May 15, 2013. Amazon.com, in its promotional introduction of the book says the following:
“The Beginning of the End is a mystery/thriller set in the United States in the near future. It is a time of unprecedented economic collapse, deep political corruption, accelerating social decay, out of control rioting in the cities and great natural disasters. Amazon.com
Even though the book is fictional, the setting is well thought out. The book, Desire of Ages describes events leading up to the end of time this way.
“Everything in the world is in agitation. The signs of the times are ominous. Coming events cast their shadows before. The Spirit of God is withdrawing from the earth, and calamity follows calamity by sea and by land. There are tempests, earthquakes, fires, floods, murders of every grade. Who can read the future? Where is security? There is assurance in nothing that is human or earthly. Rapidly men are ranging themselves under the banner they have chosen. Restlessly are they waiting and watching the movements of their leaders. There are those who are waiting and watching and working for our Lord's appearing. Another class is falling into line under the generalship of the first great apostate. Few believe with heart and soul that we have a hell to shun and a heaven to win.” {Desire of Ages, page 636, paragraph 1}
What is incredibly interesting about Mr. Snyder’s evaluation of the coming situation is that it has nothing whatsoever to do with the spiritual. But his blog consistently warns of the coming economic collapse. In fact he has said in his own words:
“I also do not believe that the world is about to end. I do not believe that at all. In fact, I believe that the coming economic collapse is going to unfold over a number of years. This is something that I have said repeatedly.” Michael James Snyder
Many would immediately dispense with his opinion, simply because he seems to not have a spiritual connection. His comment however, provokes the opposite reaction for me. Since he is not expressing a spiritual prophetic determination, there must be sufficient literal evidence to support his point of view. How can a business executive with apparently no spiritual connection arrive at this conclusion except the actual signs of an imminent collapse are clearly evident!
We often overlook the things that are right before our eyes, simply because we prefer to believe them impossible. We therefore fail to prepare for the inevitable while continuing to plan for the impossible. The hours slip by unused and unharnessed, wasted years devoted to dreams that are ludicrous and obstructionist. We pretend that we are what we are not, hoping that the harder we pretend, the more likely we will become that which we will never be. All this we do, while failing to seek to accomplish that which we might, and enjoy the peace and contentment that comes with reality.
Mr. Snyder is not the only person warning of a coming collapse. Each of these individuals warns of accompanying unrest. We should therefore be ready, since we should by now understand the spiritual implications of such upheaval.
