The Conversion of Russia?

In the month of September, 2013, Vladimir Putin addressed the Valdai Forum . The Forum’s goal is to promote dialogue between Russia and the international intellectual elite, and to make an independent, unbiased scientific analysis of political, economic and social events in Russia and the rest of the world. Their website has informed us that the Valdai Discussion Club was established in 2004. The Valdai Club Foundation website also identifies the countries and their representatives involved.

“Over 900 representatives of the international scholarly community from 62 countries have taken part in the club’s work. They include professors of major world universities, including Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, Stanford, Carleton University, the University of London, Cairo University, the University of Teheran, East China University, the University of Tokyo, Tel Aviv University, the University of Messina, Johns Hopkins University, the London School of Economics, and King’s College, London.” The Valdai Club Foundation website.

It was during one of these meetings, held in September 2013 that Mr. Putin delivered a rather stunning address. You might recall that The Communist Party of the Soviet Union arose from the Bolshevik wing of the Russian Social Democratic Workers’ Party. The Bolsheviks, organized in 1903, were led by Vladimir I. Lenin , says the Encyclopedia Britannica. Until that revolution, the majority of the Russians in the Empire were Christian, essentially Eastern Orthodox. The communist structure sought to break the influence of religion and replace it with atheism. They succeeded in doing exactly that.

On 13 July 1917, around noon, the Virgin Mary is said to have entrusted three children with three secrets. The first secret was a vision of Hell: The second secret was a statement that World War I would end, along with a prediction of another war during the reign of Pope Pius XI, should men continue offending God and should Russia not convert. The third secret has led to a tremendous amount of controversy. The Vatican has sought to keep secret most of the document, but pieces of this ‘secret’ has been revealed and is supposed to show that if or when Russia is converted, this will bring peace to the world, or at the very least, avoid another major war.

This is why Vladimir’s statement at the Valdai Forum is so relevant. This is what he said:

“Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values. Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan. This is the path to degradation. We can see how many of the Euro-Atlantic countries are actually rejecting their historic roots, including the Christian values that constitute the very basis of Western civilization. People in many European countries are embarrassed or afraid to talk about their religious affiliations. Holidays are abolished or even called something different; their essence is hidden away, as is their moral foundation.” How Russia came to be a Christian Nation, The Koinonia Institute - April 6, 2015

This is Putin speaking, that’s right, Vladimir Putin. It is therefore obvious that the changes that have taken place, have lined up with the desired expectations of the Papacy. Listen to what changes Mr. Putin referred to at that meeting:

  • Essentially outlawed abortion in Russia (no abortions after the 12th week, and before that time in limited cases,
  • ended financial support for abortions, reversing a previous Soviet policy);
  • Strongly support traditional marriage, especially religious marriage, with financial aid to married couples having more than two children;
  • Established compulsory religious instruction in all Russian schools;
  • Made religious holidays now official Russian state holidays;
  • Instituted a nationwide program of rebuilding churches that were destroyed by the Communists, the most notable being the historic Church of Christ the Savior in Moscow. How Russia came to be a Christian Nation, The Koinonia Institute - April 6, 2015

All that is left now would be the complete healing of the schism between the Eastern Orthodox and the Catholic Churches that took place in 1054.

Since 1991 over 26,000 new Christian churches have opened in Russia, and the fact that Christianity is being reborn in Russia has not gone unnoticed among some Christian writers in the America and Europe, although generally ignored by the secular press. We are certainly nearing home.
